Meet the Team

  • Dr James Lee | Specialist and general neurologist | Sydney BSc (Med), MBBS (Hons1), FRACP, PhD

    Dr James Lee graduated in medicine with 1st Class Honours. He has trained at the Royal North Shore Hospital in general neurology and neurophysiology. He is a scholar of the University of Sydney and Australian Government Research Training Program and a Doctor of Philosophy with postgraduate studies on nerve and muscle excitability in myopathic disorders, specifically inclusion body and inflammatory myopathy, and has several publications in this area. Dr Lee also received the Peter Bancroft prize. Dr Lee is a Staff Specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital and VMO Neurologist at Sutherland Hospital. James is fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin.

  • Dr Sully Fuentes-Patarroyo | Neurologist | MBBS, FRACP|

    Dr. Sully Fuentes-Patarroyo is a highly regarded Australian neurologist and the Head of the Neurology Department at Sutherland Hospital. With extensive training and experience in diagnosing and treating brain and neurological conditions, Dr. Fuentes is dedicated to providing exceptional care to her patients. Dr. Fuentes offers Spanish-speaking consultations, ensuring personalised and clear communication for her Spanish-speaking patients. Dr. Fuentes combines her expertise with a compassionate approach, helping individuals manage complex neurological issues and improve their quality of life.

  • Dr Rajiv Wijesinghe |Neurologist MBBS, FRACP

    Dr Rajiv Wijesinghe is a general neurologist, with expertise in the management of neuromuscular disorders, headache and stroke. He completed his training through Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Hospitals in Sydney. He has received subspeciality training in conducting comprehensive neurophysiological assessments and using injectable therapies for treatment of neurological disorders such as chronic migraine, cervical dystonia and hyperhidrosis.

  • Dr Derrick Soh | MBBS, BSc (Hons), FRACP Specialties:

    Dr Derrick Soh received his medical degree from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom and has specialised in Neurology at St George Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. He has completed a fellowship in neurophysiology at St George Hospital, Sydney and Movement Disorders at Toronto Western Hospital, Canada. He is now currently working as a Staff Specialist Neurologist at Wollongong Hospital and Sutherland Hospital and is a Visiting Medical Officer at Wollongong Private Hospital and Waratah private hospital.

    He is highly skilled in the management of advanced Parkinson disease including the management of advanced therapies; deep brain stimulation, duodopa and apomorphine infusions and botulinum toxin injections for movement disorders and migraine.

  • Dr. Elaine Yap | Geriatrician | MBBS (UK), MRCP (UK), FRACP

    Dr. Elaine Yap completed her medical school degree (MBBS) in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK and successfully obtained MRCP (Membership of Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom) in 2010 and FRACP (Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians) in 2021. Dr. Yap is a staff specialist at Sutherland Hospital.

    Dr. Yap has a wide breath of experience, having trained and worked in the National Health Service (NHS) in United Kingdom, New South Wales and Melbourne. She trained in the Northern Deanery and Wessex Deanery in the UK. She also trained in Concord Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Wollongong Hospital, Sutherland Hospital, St George Hospital, and Monash Health in Melbourne. `

    Dr. Yap provides a holistic approach to the management of the elderly and strives to maintain the independence and quality of life of the elderly as they age.

    Dr. Yap is able to speak 4 languages: English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Malay.

    Dr. Yap’s clinical interests include cognitive disorders, healthy ageing, falls, bone health, incontinence and polypharmacy.

  • Dr Daniel Guilfoyle | Neurologist | BSc(Adv), MBBS, FRACP

    Dr Daniel Guilfoyle is a neurologist trained through the Royal Prince Alfred, Prince of Wales, and Sutherland Hospitals. Dr Guilfoyle completed a fellowship in neuroimmunology at the Brain & Mind Centre and has a strong interest in managing patients with conditions such as multiple sclerosis, inflammatory neuropathies, and myasthenia gravis, as well as general neurological conditions. Dr Guilfoyle is highly skilled at performing nerve conduction studies for suspected nerve and muscle conditions. Dr Daniel Guilfoyle works as a staff specialist at Sutherland Hospital, and remains involved with the most up to date neuroimmunology clinical trials, as well as research and teaching in neurology.

  • Dr Malgorzata Brzozowska MD PhD FRACP

    Dr Brzozowska is a specialist endocrinologist and conjoint lecturer at UNSW (St George and Sutherland Clinical School)
